BIOGRAPHY
JOHN O'ROURKE
A documentary filmmaker with creative confidence and clarity of vision, John O'Rourke specialises in films that profile some of the great creative minds of our times.
Either with crew, or working solo on cameras like the Sony FS7 or a7S, his films have been shot across the world, with recent locations including Ethiopia, Norway, Iceland, Australia, Hong Kong, the United States, Denmark, France, Italy and Greece.
John joined the television industry in 2011 and spent the majority of his career with the Arts department of BBC Scotland, working initially as a Researcher and Assistant Producer, and then Producer-Director from 2015. He has also worked on attachment with BBC Radio 4 News programmes like PM, as well as short stints back home in Ireland.
The majority of his work continues to be for broadcasters like the BBC, but recently he has also completed projects working directly for the studios of world-leading artists and major national museums.
