The World's Greatest Storyteller

A 60 min film for BBC Four, 2017
BBC Studios

Produced in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and featuring actors including Fiona Shaw and Simon Russell Beale, this was a series of monologues from the Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses, in translations from Arthur Golding (1567) and Ted Hughes (1997). In between each monologue performance, the company of actors gather together under the aegis of RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran to discuss the mythological stories and their influences on Shakespeare. Selections include the tales of Echo and Narcissus, Phaethon, Niobe and Philomel.
